How to Lose Weight Fast
Have you gained weight recently? Do you want to take off the pounds in a hurry? There are several methods to achieve quick weight loss. Realistically speaking, you should strive to lose 5 pounds a week. That means that in a month’s time, you will have lost 20 pounds. Before you get started, evaluate your level of physical fitness to be sure that your body can handle vigorous exercise. If in doubt, consult with a physician before starting an exercise program.
Part One: Diet
It is important to cut out all junk food and desserts. For breakfast, eat whole grain cereal with skim milk and fruit on top. For lunch, a sandwich with lots of vegetables on it. Go easy on the meat and cheese! (You will be surprised how quickly the weight comes off if you stick to this rule.) For dinner, steamed vegetables on brown rice, whole grain bread with no butter, and iced tea to drink. For dessert, a piece of fruit. If you feel hungry between meals, then eat as much fruit as you want. Fruit won’t put weight on you.
Part Two: Exercise
If you are going to lose weight fast, you will need to do some form of exercise every day. Try to mix it up, which means on Monday you go jogging, on Tuesday you do weight training, on Wednesday you swim laps in the pool. By giving yourself variety, you won’t get bored and you will also use different muscle groups on different days. One other key point: rest one day per week. Set aside one day where you don’t do any exercise at all in order to allow your body to recover and rebuild.
One of the best forms of exercise to lose weight is swimming laps in the pool. Even if you aren’t a strong swimmer, you can move at your own pace and you will find that the weight steadily comes off.
Another really good and enjoyable type of exercise is bicycling. Try to find a peaceful side road without much traffic on it. Cycle along at your own pace and enjoy the natural surroundings. You may actually forget that you are exercising! Before you know it, an hour has gone by and you have lost weight and enjoyed yourself at the same time.
Part Three: Attitude
The truth of the matter is that the mental part of losing weight is often the hardest part. It’s sometimes really difficult to maintain your willpower over the course of several weeks. In order to make things easier, keep a daily journal tracking your progress toward your goal. Write down what you ate, which exercise you did, and whether or not your were able to lose a pound or two in the process.
One key to your success will be breaking your goals down into small, achievable steps that you can feel good about on a daily or weekly basis. If you try to lose all the weight at once, the goal becomes too big and you are destined to fail. It’s much better to say to yourself, “How much weight can I lose this week?” Set a goal of 5 pounds and see how you get along. Best of luck to you!
